Bingham Springs, Oregon

Bingham Springs (Bar M Ranch) – Adams, Oregon

November 1, 2022 By //  by Patricia K

The Bar M Ranch Hot Springs, also called Bingham Springs, is in northeastern Oregon’s Blue Mountains Valley, right next to the Umatilla River. The Ranch is a year-round multi-purpose venue that hosts religious retreats, corporate conferences, meetings, seminars, training sessions, family reunions, outdoor schools, vacations, weddings, and other activities.

Native Americans used the geothermal waters for both medical and spiritual reasons long before the arrival of Europeans. Foreign tourists who went there said that the mineral content of the hot springs helped them relax and feel better.

The Bar M Ranch was built in 1864 as a stop for stagecoaches on the old route from Walla Walla, Washington, to Boise, Idaho. After changing ownership a few times, the Bar M Ranch was bought by the Washington congregation of Calvary Chapel of Tri-Cities in 2011.

The owners primarily use it for religious purposes, but anybody is welcome to book a stay so they may enjoy the hot springs and beautiful scenery. Changing facilities and showers are available at the pool for swimmers’ convenience. The pool deck is relatively spacious, so there is plenty of room for all of the guests.

The warm water at 93°F is naturally sourced from the surrounding mountain, supplying the 40 x 60-foot swimming pool. When the air temperature is high in the summer, the pool water cools to a comfortable 85°F, perfect for swimming and bathing.

Bingham Springs offers more than just the chance to relax in mineral-rich, warm water. In addition to getting in the pool, there are several paths for hikers. Kayaking, boating, tubing, and catch-and-release fishing are all permitted on the ranch’s pond. There are also horseback riding, volleyball, and basketball facilities for visitors.

Accommodations

The 633-acre property is a family-friendly hot spring vacation destination. Cabins, the guesthouse, and the ranch house are available as lodging options for visitors to Bar M Ranch. Additional amenities at the Ranch include a general shop, meeting spaces, and playgrounds for the kids.
