Just 10 minutes from downtown Helena, Broadwater Hot Springs Fitness is a locals’ favorite. Known for their therapeutic abilities, the natural hot springs at Broadwater can be enjoyed in their indoor and outdoor pools.
The pools can be categorized as Soaking Pools, Recreation Pools, and Spring Pools.
Mineral Hot Spring Pools
Soaker Pool
Broadwater Hot Springs Fitness’ Soaking Pool is 24′ x 60′ and is about 3-5 feet in depth. There are benches on the side of the pool so you can rest if you want to get out for a bit. Though it’s kid-friendly, the resort advises children under the age of 15 to have adult supervision.
The Soaking Pool is maintained at 97 to 102 degrees. Colored lights light up both pools at night in all colors for the atmosphere. Large boulders sit around both as well, creating a natural feel against the high-end resort look.
Recreation Pool
The Recreation Pool is 25′ x 70′ and has a depth of 3 to 10 feet. This one is more accessible to everyone. Adult supervision is still needed in this area, but for younger kids, the temperature here is more tolerable.
The Recreation Pool is maintained at 89 to 93 degrees.
Springs Pool
The springs pool is the highlight of the resort. It’s 30′ x 70 and is filled with “freeform saltwater.” The depth is from 3 to 4.5 meters, with a temperature that ranges from 97 to 102 degrees.
This one is also open for kids, but since you can expect other people to soak here as well, it’s not recommended to bring in toys or other swimming accessories.
Fitness
The other unique feature of this resort is its fitness classes. They incorporate the hot springs in exercises and activities. You can choose from their Group Fitness Classes or Water Fitness Classes. Check out their schedules to find out the activities for each day.
Whether it’s Zumba, Water Fitness, or Aquamix, you can create a geothermal-inspired exercise while you’re here.
Dining
It’s not every rural bar where you can order sweet potato fries with house-made caramel sauce and bacon or a White Hot Pizza with artichoke hearts. The Springs Taproom & Grille is the go-to spot for filling the void.
A solid beer and wine list as well as a kids menu make it family-friendly. Even gluten-free customers and vegetarians will have lots of options. Weekly live music makes it a perfect place to spend some time out of the water.
