Unfortunately, as of fall 2022, California Hot Springs Resort is closed down for restorations. According to the new owners, they anticipate being shut down for at least a year.
Situated in the Sequoia National Forest in a town of the same name, California Hot Springs Resort is a charming resort in the heart of the state. Families like coming to this hot springs retreat for some rest and quality time together.
History
In 1882, the town of California Hot Springs was established as a wellness destination thanks to the site’s naturally clean geothermal water. These springs release 350,000 gallons of water daily at a temperature of 125 °F. A hotel was built in 1902, and three buildings, a shopping mall, a pool, and a health club all went up in 1920.
The hotel burned down in 1932, and the downtown business district was destroyed in 1968. After then, nobody used the building for another 16 years. In 1983, another restoration took place, and by 1985, the facilities were reopened. In July 2022, Artistree Hospitality purchased the resort from its previous owners.
Natural Hot Springs
There is a big hot springs pool in California Hot Springs, and the average temperature is 85 °F, give or take. The two thermal springs Jacuzzis at the old resort are kept at a comfortable 100–104 °F.
At the facility, pets are not allowed, and you have to wear swimwear in the water. To disinfect the spa and pool, chlorine is used.
Camping & Amenities
There is dining available at the property and a gift shop where you may purchase necessities. This establishment also has a gaming room. Camping is available at the springs, but there is also a forest service campground up the road.
