Charles Motel & Hot Springs – Truth or Consequences, NM

The Charles Motel and Hotel Springs is open daily to both overnight guests and day visitors. It’s located in the hot springs mecca of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.

The historic resort maintains much of its original charm, including the layout of the bathhouse and the retro tile work. Two buildings make up the resort: the Spa building built in the late 1940s and The Charles Apartments built in the early 1930s. They sit next to each other on North Broadway Street. The gem of the Charles Hotel and Spa is the underground hot springs that arrive to the surface at 113.5 degrees Fahrenheit. It has been used for hundreds of years by the locals of the region as a healing ground. The water here has no odor.

There are both individual indoor hot springs baths and outdoor private hot mineral tubs. The outdoor tubs are filled with circulating hot mineral water. There’s also an outdoor rooftop Jacuzzi that seats up to 6 people. Temperatures range from 98 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit. Each tub is drained and cleaned after every use.

Spa Treatments

The Charles Spa features a variety of body treatments. Choose from an array of massage therapy, reflexology, sweat wraps, and spiritual/energy healing. The sweat wrap consists of wrapping you with sheets, and wool blankets and placing a chilled towel on your forehead after your hot springs soak. This causes a detoxifying seat.

Massage and reflexology are available in 30, 60, and 90-minute increments. Treat yourself to improved circulation, a calmer nervous system, relaxed muscles, and less stress on your mind.

Overnight Accommodations

Both short-term and long-term overnight travelers are welcome in The Charles Apartments. Rooms are priced accordingly, either daily or monthly. The room includes one or two beds, a lounge area, a full bathroom, and cable TV. The majority of them have a full kitchen equipped with microwave and refrigerator.

Overnight guests are entitled to one mineral bath soak per person each day they stay. For a longer stay guess can buy a bath card for soaking as desired.

The Lobby Gift Shop features local craft goods, such as pottery, artwork, soaps, candles, jewelry, and healing crystals. The lobby also has free wifi, as well as coffee and tea every morning.
