Hot Springs Water

Clear Creek Hot Springs – Fraser Valley, BC, Canada

November 27, 2022 By //  by Michelle Keldgord

Anyone looking to be rewarded with a delightful soak in a hot spring tub after a lengthy yet fascinating drive will enjoy the Clear Creek Hot Springs in British Columbia, Canada. It’s a relatively long trek that requires a 4×4, but if you ask anyone who’s traveled to this alluring destination, they’ll tell you it’s worth every twist and turn.

History

The first tubs were placed in the 1950s by Ruth Larsen, the wife of wealthy logger Henry Larsen. Dubbed an “old hippie,” Ruth Larsen was a notable gold prospector that built a home near the springs and crafted the first tub made from an ancient wooden wine barrel. The artificial tubs were filled with the inviting nearby thermal waters, attracting travelers from far and wide.

Hot Spring Tubs

Today, Ruth and Henry Larsen’s cabin no longer stands. The only leftover remnant is a single wooden tub, which is now surrounded by two other rustic hot spring tubs.

The three rural tubs are surrounded by a lush, breathtaking forest, offering stunning scenery while you sit back and soak in the toasty waters of Clear Creek Hot Springs. There are also glorious mountain views to pique your interest while you unwind.

Although these tubs are notably more “rustic” compared to other nearby options, it’s rare to have the tubs all to yourself. That’s because these hot spring tubs are one of the most accessible options with plenty of “buzz” that attracts tourists.

Getting There

While the Clear Creek Hot Springs are notably majestic and relaxing, it’s said that the drive to get there is just as sensational. However, it’s essential to keep in mind that you need a 4×4 to reach this destination. There is an overabundance of potholes, rocks, and other barriers, and during times of heavy rainfall, lots of puddles and mud.

To get there, follow these directions:

  • Start on East Harrison Forest Service Road
  • Continue onto Clear Creek Forest Service Road
  • Continue for 11 km (6.8 m)
  • Walk along the log pathway until you reach the three hot spring tubs
