Deokgu Oncheon Spa World – Uljin, South Korea

December 27, 2022 By //  by Patricia K

Deokgu Spa World has been designated as “Gyeongsangbuk-do Number 1, National Health Hot Spring” by the Ministry of the Interior. Located in the heart of Eungbongsan Mountain in Deokgu-ri, the spa and hotel are home to Korea’s only renowned naturally flowing hot spring water.

It’s sometimes referred to as the Deokgu Hot Springs Hotel or the Dukgu Oncheon Resort Hotel. The pure and pristine valley where the hot spring waters originate is surrounded by interestingly carved rocks and a breathtaking canyon, providing a stunning sight for visitors.

Fees for using the facility depend on age, season, day of the week, and group size. There are special rates for families, depending on how many children they have. The establishment’s hours vary by season, and it can pay off to go early since busier times can lead to entry cut-offs after reaching maximum capacity.

Deokgu Spa World is not clothing-optional. Wearing swimming attire and a swimming cap is required to get in any of the pools or water features. Guests can rent everything they need for a day at this wellness center, including towels, swimsuits, wrap covers, gym clothes, goggles, and even water shoes.

Mineral Hot Springs

Natural and unaltered, the temperature of Deokgu Hot Spring is a steamy 42 ℃/107 °F. Because it has a lot of sodium bicarbonate, potassium, calcium, iron, and carbonic acid, the slightly alkaline Deokgu Hot Spring is thought to be an excellent way to treat nerve pain, rheumatism, muscle pain, and skin problems

There’s a wide range of facilities at the property and various ways to enjoy geothermal water and its benefits. The top features include:

Large Indoor Hot Tub – This hot tub is big enough to fit several people and has an underwater bench around its perimeter.

Open-air Hot Tub – A small outdoor jacuzzi with views.

Sinseonok Cold Pool – A shallow, tiled indoor pool where visitors can cool off and refresh after spending time in the hot water.

Saunas – The OK Sauna and Korean Amethyst Sauna have restorative, calming effects on health and can be the perfect compliment before or after a soak.

Amethyst Stone Steaming Couch – A seating area made of rock thought to have significant effects on metabolism, reducing inflammation and helping to alleviate asthma symptoms.

Locker Room – Deokgu’s locker room fits up to 800 people at once and is a clean, comfortable space to get dressed and relax before or after using the spa facilities.

Cafeteria – The property has a food court offering snacks and drinks for purchase. Inside this area, a decent-sized seating area can accommodate a good number of people. A small store selling conveniences is also in the cafeteria.

Condos have apartment-like settings and provide many of the comforts of home. There are 45 standard condo rooms, 20 suites, and nine family spa rooms. All condos have a double bed; most others include one or two ondols.

All lodging options come with controlled air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a desk, a TV, a phone, and a fridge. Bathrooms have an all-in-one shower/tub, a bidet, robes, towels, and a hairdryer. Shower water is also sourced from the mineral-rich hot spring so that guests can enjoy those benefits and extra relaxation at the end of the day.
