If you’re looking for an all-inclusive wellness center in western South Dakota, look no further than Evans Plunge Mineral Springs. This exciting and extensive location provides shindigs for the whole family, including amusing slides of all sizes, an exercise area, and a snack bar.
Evans Plunge was established in 1890 and is currently the oldest tourist attraction found in the Black Hills, however, its history stretches even further. The healing mineral waters (“wiwila kata”) were initially discovered by the Lakota and Cheyenne Native American tribes. They were especially fond of the largest spring, where they would drink and bathe in the healing waters.
That same spring, known as the “Original Indian Spring”, can still be discovered in Evans Plunge and is located at the north end of the pool. While the location was initially used as a cure-all for a wide range of illnesses, it is now the go-to for locals and tourists looking to relax and have a blast with their friends and family members.
Evans Plunge Mineral Springs Pool
The hot springs pool at Evans Plunge is fed with 5,000 gallons of mineral water per minute thanks to the thermal spring located at the north end of the pool. The continuous flow ensures the pool stays a cozy 87°F, making it okay for visitors of all ages to enjoy. Evans Plunge is also home to many other enjoyable water features to appease the whole family.
For example, older kids will enjoy the thrill of the swing rings, jet slide, and whale slide, while youngsters will have a blast going down the frog slide. There are also two pools for little ones to enjoy and two hot tubs for adults to let their troubles melt away. Moreover, Evans Plunge is also home to recreational sports such as water basketball and volleyball.

Due to being touted as a health and wellness center, Evans Plunge’s amenities don’t stop at the renewing hot springs. On-site, guests and members can enjoy additional luxuries including a rejuvenating sauna, steam room, weight room, cardio room, spin room, outdoor pool, lap lanes for swimming, and a gift shop.
