Located in Sonoma Valley and about an hour from San Francisco, the AAA Four-Diamond Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is the pinnacle of luxury in the Golden State’s Wine Country. The inn has mineral pools heated by geothermal water, farm-to-table cuisine, and proximity to the world-class Sonoma Golf Club.
Aside from overnight accommodations, this resort also offers day passes to its spa.
History

The resort building was built in the early 1900s, but people have been living in the area where it is for hundreds of years. Four major Native American villages are mentioned in some of the oldest stories about the area. Numerous rebrandings and a devastating fire in 1923 marked the resort’s early years. The historic resort was completely redone in 1927.
Since then, it has changed hands many times and is now known throughout the state’s center. When visiting the Bay Area for games, many professional sports teams choose to lodge here.
Natural Hot Springs

From 1,100 feet below the resort, a thermal mineral spring with 27 distinct minerals flows up to the surface at a comfortable 115°F. There are five thermal mineral pools ranging in temperature from 85 to 102°F, including three outdoor pools and two indoor bathhouse pools.
If you want to feel healthy and energetic, “take the waters” at these Roman-style baths, where a popular bathing ritual takes place. Many guests visit the hotel just to soak in what is widely considered to be the greatest spa waters in the nation.
The Spa
The Willow Stream Spa is a very unique health center that sits on top of an old thermal mineral spring and offers massages, facials, and salon services. This luxury resort’s spa has 28 treatment rooms and was made to fit in with the natural surroundings. It offers easy, clean, and very effective treatments for any kind of pain.
Guests may unwind in a halotherapy sauna or an aromatherapy steam room after soaking in the hot pools. The outdoor patio is only for people with day passes or who are getting a spa treatment.
Other Amenities

Visitors can break a sweat at the establishment’s top-notch fitness center, which is also available to day guests. The hotel guests and members of the Sonoma Golf Club may enjoy hitting the greens with a round of golf at this exclusive club in the heart of Wine Country. There’s also a spa cafe, a fine dining restaurant, and a poolside bar with food and drink options.
