The Gila Hot Springs Ranch & RV Park, located around 40 miles north of Silver City, is a rural retreat that provides accommodations, camping, and wilderness adventures. Since 1940, the same family has owned and maintained the ranch, and they still enjoy passing on their knowledge of the land’s rich history to visitors.
History
Soon after settling in the region in 1929, Doc Campbell bought a 320-acre ranch and, in 1963, constructed Doc Campbell’s Post. The same family owns the ranch, RV park, and campground, all of which are right next to each other. Doc’s two daughters continue his legacy of showing off the area to tourists from all over the United States.
Natural Hot Springs
All of the rooms at Gila Hot Springs Ranch are equipped with naturally soft and fully safe-to-drink water from the ranch’s hot springs. An additional amenity is a jacuzzi fed by the area’s natural hot springs, but a fee is charged to use this feature.
The Gila Hot Springs Ranch is located right next to Gila Hot Spring Campground, also owned by the Cambell family. It’s a separate business that offers day use to all its hot springs for a fee. It’s just a few minutes’ walk from the ranch and RV park.
Lodging and RV Park
The ranch and RV park are open all year for individuals, families, businesses, and other groups. The property’s rooms and suites provide everything you need for a restful and enjoyable visit, whether you want to stay for just one night or many.
There are two types of lodging on the property. The fully-furnished apartments are great for disconnecting from the world. All have fully equipped kitchens for those who want to cook for themselves.
The RV park offers tent and vehicle camping spots and amenities like a fire ring and picnic tables. All the campgrounds’ hookups provide hot and cold running water.
The Gila Hot Springs RV Park is quiet and private, and it has beautiful views of the Gila National Forest and the Gila Wilderness. Doc Campbell’s Post is a small convenience store selling any last-minute items you may have forgotten at home.
The aforementioned Gila Hot Springs Campground offers additional camping options, but it’s not an RV park. It only has dry camping with no hookups suitable for tents, as well as self-contained RVs, travel trailers, and camper vans.
Wilderness Trips
Get your fill of excitement by booking a “Wilderness Trip” at the ranch during your stay. The hosts are from the area, so they are happy to share what they know about it by taking visitors on great hikes or horseback riding trips.
You can plan your itinerary to include whatever activities you enjoy, from hiking and swimming to fishing and photography, to seeing animals and identifying plants.
