Hoosier Hot Springs – Truth or Consequences, New Mexico

April 18, 2022 By //  by Michelle Keldgord

There are many hot springs locations in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, but one unassuming location you won’t want to miss is Hoosier Hot Springs. This quaint and rustic building is the perfect getaway for those who are truly seeking peace and quiet.

Hoosier Hot Springs was initially built in 1937 by the Lotz family, who traveled from Indiana and fell in love with the area. The spot was known as “Hoosier Apartment,” a charming little bathhouse for visitors. Today, it’s the lesser-known hideaway for those that want to sit back, relax, and soak in revitalizing all-natural mineral waters.

Hot Spring Baths

The Hoosier has four hot spring baths to choose from.

There are three outdoor hot spring jacuzzis surrounded by beautiful plants and flowers to enhance your visit. When you’re done rejuvenating in the steamy waters, hop out and unwind on one of the few spots to sit and take a breather.

There is also a single indoor bath, which comes complete with a bathroom and shower. This bath has more of an old-world aesthetic, designed with Spanish-style tiles and gorgeous architecture. Warm mineral waters of about 108°F are pumped into this soaking spot from a single pipe.

Reservations are required, and you can set appointments in one-hour intervals. Keep in mind that the operating hours are only from 1 PM to 9 PM, but the owner may be able to accommodate other timeframes.

Accommodations

There are no accommodations at Hoosier Hot Springs.

However, many vacation rentals can be found strewn across Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. There are also nearby hotels, both small, local options and big chains. For example, the Rocket Inn is less than a mile from Hoosier and the Holiday Inn Express (affiliate links) is just two miles away.
