Formerly the O Spa & Resort, Hotel O2 in Desert Hot Springs, CA is a cozy boutique hotel with healing mineral waters. It also boasts verified massage therapists and healers, scenic gardens, and rooms with simple but thoughtful decor.
It’s located less than 20 minutes from downtown Palm Springs, 45 minutes from Joshua Tree State Park, and about two hours from L.A. and San Diego.
The spa was built in the 1950s, but it has been updated to keep its classic charm while adding 21st-century conveniences. The San Bernardino and San Jacinto Mountains, which are all around the resort, offer breathtaking views in every direction.
Day guests and overnighters can use the facility. Passes for the spa, hot springs and rentable cabanas or day beds can be purchased individually. The entire facility is rentable for large events like weddings, too.
Natural Hot Springs
The water features of this property are available 24/7, but noise must be kept to a minimum after 10 pm.
The water in all of the pools is from a natural mineral spring that flows up from depths of more than a thousand feet. It registers over 112 ℉ when it reaches the surface. The main pool is heated to 90 ℉ in the winter and 85 ℉ in the summer.
Even though the water in the backyard Turkish shower is usually about 112 °F, because it comes straight from a deep aquifer, the temperature can vary slightly.
The larger hot tub is heated to 104 °F, but the cowboy hot tub in the backyard garden can be left at room temperature. This is convenient for people who want to cool off in the water, but it can also be heated to a comfortable temperature if asked.
Amenities
Aside from the natural pools, a Pétanque court and comfortable seating areas can all be found within the 4.5 acres of walled and secluded grounds. Additionally, an outdoor eating space can seat up to twenty people, multiple fire pits, three gas BBQs, beautiful indigenous plant life, a shaded yoga stage, and artistic outdoor murals.
Travelers with pets can let them play in a safe 100-foot leash-free dog run.

Each of the 19 private rooms offers a choice of high-quality King or Queen mattresses with a “hippy-chic” ambiance. On a first-come, first-served basis, they provide their customers with complimentary bicycles.
