Old Perpetual Geyser at Hunters Hot Spring Lodge in Lakeview, OR.

Hunters Hot Springs – Lakeview, Oregon

October 31, 2020 By //  by William Reavis

Hunters Hot Springs, located just north of Lakeview, Oregon, is a simple hotel known for its large hot spring pool and active geyser. Hunters Hot Springs is not a luxurious resort, but it provides its guests with clean, comfortable accommodations and superb service.

Hot Spring Pool

The highlight of Hunter Hot Springs, for many, is the large, in-ground concrete pool. This pool is filled with geothermally heated mineral water from a nearby source, so it’s always at a perfect temperature for soaking. Water emerges from the source at nearly 200° F, but it has cooled to an appropriate temperature by the time it reaches the pool.

Due to the composition of the minerals present in the water, the pool is often tinted green. To remedy this, and to ensure the pool stays sanitary, the resort drains and refills it nightly. Access to the Hot Spring Pool is included for guests of the hotel, but visitors may also purchase a day-pass at the front desk of the hotel.

Besides the pool, Hunter Hot Springs is well-known for Old Perpetual, the Pacific Northwest’s only active geyser. Generally, Old Perpetual shoots 200-degree water to heights of fifty feet approximately every ninety seconds, making it a popular tourist attraction.

  • Standard Double rooms include the same amenities with the addition of a second bed.
  • Deluxe rooms are larger and offer the accommodations listed above with the addition of a sizeable kitchenette featuring a microwave and refrigerator.
