The Jemez Hot Springs, formerly known as the Giggling Hot Springs, offers awe-inspiring views while you relax and unwind. Located just one hour from Albuquerque, in Jemez Springs, NM, this “mountain tropical” day resort is sure to make you feel rejuvenated within your first soak.
The Jemez Hot Springs was originally used by local Native Americans for healing and spiritual rituals. The original bathhouse was built in the 1800s, drawing crowds from Albuquerque to the springs by stagecoach. Guests would stay for typically a month due to the legendary tales of healing and recovery.
The source of the Jemez Hot Springs mineral water comes from beneath a nearby ancient volcano, the Valles Caldera, and averages temperatures of 142°F before reaching the pools.
Hot Springs Pools
Four different pools make up the Jemez Hot Springs; The Inner Peace Pool, The Meditation Pool, The Fountain of Youth Pool, and, The Reflecting Pool. These pools are full of ancient seawater that includes minerals such as calcium, potassium, iron, and magnesium.
To maintain the purity of the water, while keeping it sanitary, the pools are disinfected with ultraviolet light, ionizers, and an oxygen inversions system. While the water comes from the source at extreme temperatures, the pools are maintained between 98-105°F.

What to Know Before Visiting
The Jemez Hot Springs is open to guests ages 14 and above every day except Tuesday, from 11 AM to 5 PM. You can purchase either an hour-long or two-hour-long pass for a moderate fee, which includes access to the property and the hot springs pools.
The Jemez Hot Springs operates on a first-come, first-served basis and does not take reservations. The best time to visit is during the week or in the morning to ensure entrance. Occupancy is limited to 14 people, and you must arrive at least an hour and 15 minutes before closing time.
The Jemez Hot Springs management recommends bringing a water bottle, swimsuit, and towel when you visit the hot springs pools. Swimsuits are required at all times and options are available to rent if you forget a swimsuit or towel.
Lodging
While visiting the Jemez Hot Springs, spend the night in one of the three newly renovated accommodations. Great for small group getaways and private escapes, the Turquoise Trail Cottage and the Red Mesa Cabin both can all fit up to 4 people.
The third abode, the Adobe Cabin can sleep up to 5. Providing air conditioning, wifi, and multiple beds, guests can stay on the property and enjoy the hot springs to their fullest.
