Near Augusta, Montana, you’ll find K Bar L Ranch & Medicine Springs, a rustic guest resort with a hot springs pool. It also features Western-style cabins and a wide variety of outdoor activities in the spirit of the American West.
Because of its secluded location, visitors may reach the ranch via boat, helicopter, trekking, or horseback for a unique hot springs experience.
History
Thomas Valentine, a Union soldier who had served without pay, came to this slice of Heaven and was promptly awarded forty acres of property because of an act of Congress in 1872. The Klick family purchased the land in the 1920s and built a guest ranch complete with cabins, a restaurant, and hot springs pools.
The ranch is close to Great Falls and has changed ownership several times since then. The Wallis family has lived there for about two decades and is now managing it.
Natural Hot Springs
The K Bar L Ranch is home to bubbling geothermal springs that emerge from the ground nearby, and it’s a remarkable feature of the property. Visitors have been able to relax and have fun for hours in the single, huge outdoor swimming pool fed by these waters. The water is a pleasant 86℉ all year round. Anyone using the pool must wear a swimsuit or similar item of clothing.
American Indians, trappers, loggers, and others came to the Medicine Waters long before the ranch owners constructed the pool to enjoy the springs’ therapeutic and calming effects.
Other Activities
There is something for everyone’s inner explorer at this property. Guests start their days at the main lodge, where they may plan their itineraries and fill themselves with a hearty, freshly prepared, made-to-order breakfast.
Volleyball, horseshoes, roping on the main lawn, and s’mores by the fire are just a few of the other fun things to do at camp. Guests also like to ride horses and walk around the area to take pictures of the beautiful scenery. There are options for hunting and fishing, but only with the proper permits and licenses.
Accommodations
There are two types of accommodations at this property. Guests can bring their own alcohol, but pets aren’t allowed at the establishment.
Cabins
The vintage cabins provide just the right blend of rustic charm and modern convenience. Everyone staying at the resort will have their own private unit. Each cottage has a wood fire, a porch, and a comfy bed. Towels, robes, and other shampoos and conditioners are also offered.
Main Lodge
The ranch’s central lodge was built from materials native to the area. Here, visitors may unwind and socialize with their loved ones, tour guides, and the rest of the staff. Among its many amenities are a gift store, a library, a dining area, a screened-in porch, and a sunroom. Three meals are prepared daily, put together with the freshest local ingredients.
