La Paloma Hot Springs & Spa is a serene getaway for anyone traveling through the enchanting and historical Truth or Consequences location. It was previously the Hay-Yo-Kay Hot Springs, which was bought by La Paloma. Also formerly known as “The Marshall Miracle Pool,” this New Mexican spa offers two rustic bathhouses and 13 (soon to be 17) natural hot spring pools to choose from.
When you’re ready to escape the hustle and bustle of Truth or Consequences (T or C), consider a soak at the historical La Paloma. Here, you can enjoy a half-hour soak, a full-hour excursion, or stay the night and enjoy the rejuvenating waters continuously throughout the day and evening.
Natural Hot Spring Pools
La Paloma showcases two historic bathhouses over 90 years old (constructed in 1919 and 1925), with indoor and outdoor soaking options.
Collectively, there are 13 pools of varying sizes (soon to be more) to pick from. These pools are equipped with temperatures ranging from 98° to 116° F and an astounding 38 minerals – without the undesirable sulfur scent.
Aside from being a historical landmark, another standout feature is that each gravel-bottomed pool receives hot artesian mineral water directly from the ground – no pumps or pipes required. This is known as “structured” or “living” water and is only available in these two bathhouses within T or C.
Keep in mind that the indoor pools are clothing-optional and 100% private, so you can soak in the buff or stick to your suit. However, the outdoor pools are communal, and therefore, suits must be worn at all times (unless they are reserved for a private party).
Spa Services and Other Activities
This destination is more than your getaway for relaxing Hot Artesian pools. There are also a wealth of day spa activities ranging from renewing massages and Reiki to facials and reflexology.
For those that want to be more in-tuned with their spiritual side, La Paloma also offers a wide range of opportunities, including Tarot and Spiritual Restructuring. If personal growth is more your scene, consider one of the unwinding yoga classes on-site.
Accommodations
Not ready to say sayonara to the springs just yet? La Paloma Hot Springs & Spa has 15 rooms in two unique settings, each with its own charming atmosphere and features.
The Courtyard
The Courtyard features rustic, cabin-style accommodations used initially by workers completing the 1916 dam that would eventually become Elephant Butte Lake. Today, these cabins have been restored and turned into charming spots. For example, the Vista Bonita is the perfect 2-person suite with stunning views of Turtleback Mountain.
The Paloma Suites
If you’re looking for something a little less historical yet with the same pleasant features, consider the Paloma Suites. These are larger units that are perfect for families and big groups. They come with two or more bedrooms, a full kitchen, living room, and outdoor spaces for relaxing.
