The Mount View Hotel and Spa is a historic landmark that is known all over the country. Located in Calistoga at the base of Mount St. Helena, this destination is surrounded by vineyards in the beautiful wine region.
The hotel has a spa with mineral mud baths, a mineral water pool, and a hot springs jacuzzi outdoors. Boasting an atmosphere that takes visitors back to the 1920s and 1930s through its decor, this charming establishment is the perfect place to slow down time.
History
After the fire of 1908, the building was rebuilt as the European Hotel. In 1915, Johnny B. Ghisolfo bought the building and later became the mayor of Calistoga. It changed ownership multiple times over the next several decades before finally making its way onto the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.
More recently, the hotel’s Art Deco features were fixed up, and the jacuzzi was reconnected to the town’s underground geothermal springs, which supply the spa’s hot tub with water. A family now manages it.
Natural Spring Water
Back behind the main building of the hotel is a hexagonal mineral pool on a well-maintained concrete patio. A relaxing hot springs jacuzzi also keeps a temperature of about 102° F. Guests who stay the night enjoy going out for a meal or wine tasting before returning to the hotel to relax by the water.
The Spa
Body treatments, including wraps, scrubs, and massages, are some of the many options available at True Spa. A mud bath and a sauna are available for use at the facility. Aromatherapy, as well as hydrotherapy, are among the therapeutic modalities available. The spa has a minimum age limit of 18 for all guests.
The expert spa concierge staff is happy to tailor each guest’s experience to their needs to give a truly unforgettable moment of relaxation.
Dining
There are two restaurants on the premises. At Johnny’s Restaurant & Bar, customers may choose a casual breakfast (for which they get a coupon each day), lunch, or supper. The upscale Veraison restaurant serves dinner nightly. Both restaurants share the same executive chef and are located across the lobby from one other.
Fried chicken sliders with buttermilk slaw are just one example of the elevated casual fare at Johnny’s. The cuisine at Veraison is “excellent, flavorful, current, but not too complex French food,” as described by the chef.
Lodging
Lodging options include colorful guestrooms, luxury suites, balcony suites, artist cottages, and two queen luxury suites. Each room has high-quality beds, espresso makers, flat-screen TVs, and iPod docking stations. Cottage amenities include outside patio space, jetted baths, kitchenettes, and mini-refrigerators.
Fifty percent of the revenues from each stay are given to charities that help kids, women, the environment, and the community.
