Mundo Hot Springs – Cambridge, Idaho

February 4, 2023 By //  by William Reavis

Three miles outside of Cambridge, Idaho sits Mundo Hot Springs: a no-frills, simple hot spring resort. It features a variety of accommodations and camping, a relaxing thermal pool, and a delicious restaurant on-site.

The resort is closed on Monday and Tuesday each week, and reservations can be made online or via telephone. It’s located just under two hours northeast of Boise.

Natural Hot Spring Pool

Geothermally heated mineral water emerges from a nearby source at 160° F before being piped into the resort. By the time the healing water reaches the pool, it has cooled to a perfect temperature of around 102° F, though this may vary slightly with the seasons.

The water is designed to continually flows to ensure that the pools are fresh and clean. To further improve sanitation, the pool is drained, pressure-washed, and cleaned each week. This creates a spotless atmosphere perfect for relaxation in the healing water.

Besides the large hot spring pool, Mundo Hot Springs also features a spa. Here, the geothermally heated mineral water is kept at a slightly higher temperature. The pool area is available for day use for a fee, and Mundo also offers season passes for families, couples, or individuals. Children are allowed in the pool, but kids under thirteen years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Mundo Hot Springs’ pool is wheelchair accessible.

Mundo Hot Springs has a few accommodations. Of these, the most unique is definitely the Poolhouse. This large house features two bedrooms, a sizeable living room, and a fully equipped kitchen. The two bedrooms can be rented individually or you can choose to rent the entire house.

The most exciting part of the Poolhouse is the private, guaranteed access to the hot spring pool and spa after-hours.

Additionally, Mundo Hot Springs has a small cabin that is suitable for two adults. It features a full bathroom and a small kitchenette as well as a private soaking tub located just outside the back door.

Camping

The resort contains both RV and tent campsites, but no car camping is permitted. There are full hookup sites, with picnic tables and fire rings.

Dogs are welcome, as long as they stay on leash and you clean up after them.

Dining at The Bistro

The Bistro, Mundo Hot Springs’ own local restaurant, has a menu featuring delicious, homemade offerings. The restaurant is open during the pool’s hours, and the menu contains a variety of classics like salads, sandwiches, snacks, and the famous Mundo Burger.

In the winter, The Bistro offers homemade soups, and in the summer dessert specials on the weekends.

Weiser River Trail

The Weiser River Trail is found only a half-mile from the resort. This nature hike is a whopping 84 miles long, so guests can just do a couple of miles and return if spending the night. And because the resort happens to be about halfway, it makes an excellent option for spending the night and rejuvenating your body after a long strenuous hike.

Overall, Mundo Hot Springs is an inviting, simple resort with healing mineral waters and options for accommodations.
