There is no shortage of options when it comes to soaking excursions at Ngawha Springs. There are 16 public pools to choose from, each showcasing its own unique characteristics and temperatures. For those who prefer private sessions, there are also eight private springs to relish.
All pools are filled with the mineral-rich waters that bubble beneath the earth’s surface. According to the Ngapuhi people, the hot spring waters are created from Ruaumoko – the unborn child of Papatuanuku – moving around in his mother’s womb.
Here are the many different hot spring options found at Ngawha Springs:
- Bulldog – This is the oldest hot spring tub in Ngawha Springs and is known for its incredibly hot temperature. This tub is best for healing ailments due to its high mineral content.
- Kotahitanga – Like the Bulldog, the Kotahitanga tub is best for treating ailments.
- Tanemahuta – If you’re suffering from burns of any kind, this is the premier option within the complex.
- Solomon – This hot tub is best for those who may be suffering from skin problems.
- Doctor – Next to Bulldog, this is one of the oldest and most popular tubs in the vicinity.
- Baby – The uniqueness of this hot tub pool is that the water changes colors regularly, creating a visually exciting scene.
- Favourite – If you have chest congestion, the “Favourite” is the hot tub to sink into.
- Waikato – This hot tub was named after the Waikato people who created the tub. It is filled with bubbles that massage the body perfectly.
- Kowhai/Milky Way – These two tubs are known for being the cooler options of the 16 public pools.
You also have the Mokopuna, Velvet, Jupiter, Universal, Cinderella, and Sulphur Way.
