Ukiah, California’s Orr Hot Springs Resort is a clothing-optional geothermal getaway complete with hot springs baths, private tubs, and a waterfall thermal springs pool. The resort’s beautiful pools, set in 27 acres of lush forest, and the sound of falling water make it the perfect place to relax.
Day-use visitors and overnight guests are welcome to this venue. The hours for day guests are 12 pm to 9 pm every day, but it’s important to note that the swimming pool is closed on Tuesdays.
History

The resort, founded in 1858 and named for an early resident, Samuel Orr, began as a stagecoach stop in the 1890s. Historically, the area was referred to as Orr Hot Sulphur Springs. In the 1930s, local redwood was used to build the lodge and several cottages, which still have the elegance and beauty of the early 1900s. The newer buildings merge well with the natural river setting.
The Springs

The five main baths of the resort are set in a woodland setting. On the property, you’ll find two rock-lined tubs, one inside, one outside (heated to a comfortable 104 to 108 ℉), and two designed for stargazing on the Bathhouse deck. The swimming pool is the largest water area and has a small cascade flowing into it.
Hot, untreated water runs straight from the ground into hot tubs. After enjoying the hot tub, sauna, or steam room, a dip in the pool fed by the cool springs is a welcome relief.
These pools tend to book up quickly, so making a reservation well in advance is best. Children are permitted in Orr Hot Springs, but only under certain circumstances, as the resort markets itself as an adult retreat. Kids cannot swim alone or in restricted areas of the pool.
For those who like their bathing experience to be more private, the hotel also has baths that are separated from one another.
Lodging and Camping

Camping and lodging are both available at Orr Hot Springs Resort. There are a few yurts, cabins, rooms, campsites, and The Creekhouse available to rent for overnight stays at the property.
All of them include bathing fees, use of communal facilities, and require multiple-night stays. Anyone camping must arrive by 6 pm to get set up for the evening.
There is also one van camping spot set up near the restrooms. No car camping is allowed in the regular parking lot.
