Named the world’s best luxury mineral spring spa for the last eight years running, (Mornington) Peninsula Hot Springs has a slew of incredible thermal spring pools, spa treatments, and overnight glamping accommodations. Located on the Mornington Peninsula, it’s about a 90-minute drive from Melbourne in southeastern Australia.
The natural hot springs, day spa, and wellness center promise to help you recharge, revitalize, and restore. In fact, Recharge, Revitalize, and Restore are the resort’s names for three pampering packages that serve as a foundation for available services.
Peninsula Hot Springs offers 50 globally-inspired bathing experiences, 20 spa and wellness activities, plus two cafes, a dining room, picnic gardens, relaxation spaces, and “glamping” accommodations. The different bathing areas have different operating hours, but there is at least one open at any given time around the clock.
Natural Hot Springs Pools
The mineral waters at Peninsula Hot Springs are estimated to be over 10,000 years old. Naturally heated by the earth’s core, the water rises 637 meters from below the earth’s surface. Each pool empties and refills continuously, never recirculating, which results in a fresh body of water every four hours. All are completely drained once a day.
Bathing (or soaking, to be more accurate) experiences are available in 45-60 minute sessions. The Bath House and Bath House Amphitheatre are for families, friends, and groups. The Spa Dreaming Centre provides a tranquil, private setting for adults only. There are also three private bathing options for singles, couples, and groups of five or fewer.
For a special treat, go early in the morning to watch the sunrise as you soak, or in the evening for a moonlit bathing experience.
The geothermal waters are considered “healing waters” due to naturally occurring magnesium, boron, potassium, and sodium. These minerals are thought to be beneficial for relieving stress, reducing blood pressure, detoxifying the skin, rehabilitating muscles and joints, and improving sleep.
Peninsula Hot Springs has reservable relaxation spaces including cabanas for up to 5 guests and a domed tent that can accommodate as many as 15 people.
Dining
The resort offers dining experiences sourced partially from its on-site garden. Not surprisingly, dining menus feature seasonal, healthy meals. There are two cafes with picnic gardens and an adults-only dining room. Picnic hampers are available as well.
Spa Services
The spa at Peninsula Hot Springs offers signature services and balancing therapies using organic products and Australia-sourced kelp, mud, and oils. Services include a variety of facials, body skin treatments, and massages.
Glamping Accommodations
Glamping is offered for those who want to stay overnight after their day of pampering. Luxuriously appointed tents allow for listening to the sounds of nature while drifting off to sleep. Glamping packages include bathing and meals.
Chose from Garden View, Lake View, and Secluded Pavilion glamping accommodations.
