Pozar Thermal Baths, often known as the “Loutra Pozar,” is a natural hot spring area located in the Pella region’s Loutraki Aridaias, a village not far from the Greek city of Edessa. Even though Loutra Pozar is in a great place at the foot of the Voras Mountains, only a few tourists know about these healing springs.
Guests must pay a daily fee to utilize the water attractions. Some on-site places offer towel and robe rentals if you forget to bring your own. You’ll find a changing room, shower, and restroom by each hot spring.
Day trips to the site are easy to arrange from Thessaloniki. In Loutraki Aridaias, it’s easy to park, and there are signs to help people find their way to the hot springs.
Mineral Springs Baths
There are several ways to enjoy these springs, thanks to indoor and outdoor soaking options. Loutra Pozar has a lot of exciting things about it, like being in the middle of a forest. This provides the ideal setting to turn off the clock and relax at any time of the year. The elevation of the Pozar hot springs is 390 meters/1,280 feet above sea level, which can add to the overall experience.
The Stream of Yios Nikólaos, also called the Thermopotamos River, is made when rainwater soaks deep into the ground, warmed by the earth’s surface. The water then rises to the surface, carrying a lot of minerals and elements with it.
Visitors to the Pozar Baths will feel refreshed and re-energized due to being so close to both the geothermal spring and the cool, moving stream. It’s a local tradition to soak in hot water before taking a shower at the natural waterfall.
At the base of Mount Kaimaktsalan, Pozar Thermal Springs has several private baths in the Alexandrio Hydrotherapy Center. There are also indoor pools, an outdoor pool, a hot tub, and a spa. The water’s steady temperature of 30–38 °C/86-100.4 °F is credited with curing various ailments related to the skin, the digestive system, the circulatory system, and more.
In addition to soaking in the waters, visitors also consume them.
Other Activities
The Alexandrio Hydrotherapy Center offers services that make the bathing experience better. People say that getting a therapeutic massage before going to the waters improves their visit, so schedule your massage first and then relax in the hot tubs. Reservations are not required to use the outdoor pool or waterfalls.
Loutra Pozar is also home to several nature paths and trekking routes. The waterfall’s peak has steps leading to a cave with spectacular views, which makes for a great hiking experience.
