Hot Springs Water

Ram (Dewar) Creek Hot Springs – BC, Canada

September 27, 2022 By //  by Alexandria Sullivan

Underdeveloped and secluded deep in the Canadian Wilderness, Ram Creek Hot Springs, also known as Dewar Hot Springs and Dewar Creek Hot Springs, provides a picturesque escape for its visitors. Surrounded by forest, the springs are rather difficult to access, however, once you’re there, the journey will be worth it.

While there isn’t much information available about the history of human use at the springs, they were discovered when researchers were exploring the park and conservatory land. Kept mostly natural, Ram Creek Hot Springs contains mineral-rich water that benefits not only soakers but also nearby plants and wildlife.

From time to time, tourists do build structures to disrupt the flow, however, environmental specialists and allies break them down, except for 3 small rock pools on the hill. Once destroyed in a big rock slide, the pools have been rebuilt.

Mornings are always the best time to visit, with a good chance of having the springs all to yourself. There are a couple of things to keep in mind when visiting Ram Creek Hot Springs.

Firstly, it’s common for people to soak without swimsuits, so mind your gaze. Secondly, this is a nature preserve and bears are present. Be cautious and make sure to limit noise throughout your journey.

Nearby Camping and Cabins

There are various other hot springs in this same region of British Columbia, as well as hiking trails, trekking, and bird watching. Moreover, cabins and camping sites are nearby for those looking to spend the night. With endless ways to soak in nature, Ram Creek Hot Springs provides visitors with an amazing experience, as long as you’re willing to work for it.

Getting There

Visitors can access the springs by hiking for 3-4 hours, horseback riding, or by taking a four-wheel-drive vehicle, however, you’ll have to walk the last 4km. Ram Creek Hot Springs is located in the Purcell Wilderness Conservatory. It’s 19.2km out from Dewar Creek Forest Service Road, in the region of the Canadian Rockies.
