Tatopani Hot Springs Nepal

Tatopani & Paudwar Hot Springs – Nepal

December 1, 2022 By //  by Patricia K

Both the Tatopani Hot Spring and the Paudwar Hot Spring can be found in Tatopani, making this area a popular destination for those in search of geothermal waters for relaxation or medicinal purposes. Locals use the gentle waters of this natural mineral spring to relax and feel better, and it also draws a steady stream of curious tourists.

The people of Nepal appreciate these springs despite their lack of complexity compared to other places. Visitors get to experience soaking in a more rustic setting while being able to socialize with others.

At Tatopani Hot Spring, the main bathing area has a pool, saunas, and concrete hot tubs separated into distinct men’s and women’s sides. In addition to clearing impurities from the body, the mineral-rich water from this spring may also rev up a sluggish metabolism, ease muscular tension, and accelerate the process of healing.

An area has been set aside for showering, and both genders use this space divided by a short concrete wall. When seen from above, the form of water sprouts is reminiscent of a multicolored lion’s head, with the water dripping out from between the fangs.

Paudwar Hot Springs

Just a few meters to the north of these hot pools are the Paudwar Hot Springs, which include open-air concrete baths with a roof above for shade. There are also showers on-site and lots of rich sulfuric water. It’s not uncommon for tourists to go “hot spring hopping” from one to the other, especially after a long day of hiking.

To prevent becoming sick from the sudden temperature change, people should not stay in the water for more than fifteen minutes at a time and should dry off quickly with a towel. At both springs sites are locker rooms and cups available for filling and drinking the mineral water.

Local Lodging

A few hotels within walking distance of the pools are next to the Tatopani hot springs. A couple of inns, a guest house, a hotel, and a lodge are all set right along the river. There are also some restaurants, most of which are attached to hotels.

These destinations can also make for a nice day trip through the Tatopani region, which is also home to a beautiful river and a peaceful atmosphere. Spend an afternoon exploring all the area’s soaking options.
