The Springs Resort & Spa, Costa Rica

The Springs Resort & Spa – La Fortuna, Costa Rica

April 27, 2022 By //  by Patricia K

The Springs Resort and Spa at Arenal is on 165 acres of true bliss, featuring the ultimate tropical landscape with waterfalls, hot springs, and sweeping views of the Costa Rican valley below. This five-star property was also the filming location of several TV shows but is most well-known for hosting “The Bachelor” and “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”

CNN also labeled this hideaway as one of the world’s top seven resorts with the most spectacular views. A unique aspect is its impressive design and shape, showcasing beautiful lush plants and creating a tranquil atmosphere.

La Fortuna is less than 10 minutes away by car, and San Carlos Airport is 43 miles from the resort. There are many nearby attractions less than six miles from the property, such as the Kalambu Hot Springs and La Fortuna Waterfall.

This fabulous resort isn’t off-limit to day-trippers, as they sell two-day passes that give visitors access to the property from 8 am to 10 pm. If you live nearby or are staying elsewhere, don’t rob yourself of the opportunity to indulge in some relaxation and soak at these famous spring pools.

Valid passes allow visitors to come and go as much as they want during those hours. The pass also provides access to use the many on-site restaurants and bars.

The Hot Springs and Pools

There are three distinct swimming areas at The Springs Resort and Spa, each with its own features and hours of operation.

Las Lagunas Pools

Las Lagunas is open from 10 am to 10 pm and begins right from the reception building. The landscape is beautiful and flows over a multi-layer terrain with lush foliage. This swimming area is designed over two acres and has twelve pools, eight of which are filled directly by hot mineral springs and four that have chlorinated water. The pools’ temperatures range from 86-103℉, and there is an awesome swim-up bar among them.

Perdido Springs

The Perdido Springs area is also open from 10 am to 10 pm, but the “Monkey Slide” only operates from 12:30-8 pm. There are seven spring-fed pools in this area, and they are just feet away from the lowest of the Las Lagunas pools.

These interconnected waters flow through a lovely bunch of forest trails, making you feel like you’re swimming out alone in a wild paradise. Temperatures of the Perdido Springs pools are between 91-104℉.

Club Rio Springs

Strolling down the property’s river through lush rainforest terrain will lead you to the Club Rio Springs pools. These hot water pockets are placed on the trek around the Club Rio Adventure Center and have been likened to a spiritual experience. Dip your toes into the natural hot bubbling water and let the stresses of life melt away. This area’s hours are 10 am to 4 pm.

The Sanctuary Spa

The Sanctuary Spa is the on-site spa facility that offers an entire menu of services. Indulge in a body wrap, body polish treatment, massage treatment, facials, hand/foot treatments, or couples’ massage. There are also deluxe packages that bundle more than one service for a combined experience.
