Vulcan Hot Springs, located close to Cascade, Idaho, is a one-of-a-kind destination because of its massive pool and the enormous volumes of almost boiling water that feeds it. This incredible emerald-green geothermal pool is built with wood from the Boise National Forest.
The wet area used to be huge, but as of a few years ago, it has shrunk into one small pool. Temperatures at the source are up to 190℉ but cool down some as it fills the basin. When there is enough water for soaking, this area is clothing-optional and free.
Due to its rural location, there are many wildlife-watching opportunities. Red spider mites have occasionally been reported along the shore.
