Yamamizuki in Kumamoto is a place to relax with hot springs and stay in traditional Japanese-style rooms. Visitors like the mountain stream’s tranquility, the hot springs’ soothing waters, and the abundance of trees in this setting.
The inn is one of the best places to stay in town and is on a small road next to a rushing stream and quiet rice terraces. The property is located reasonably far from the center of town (about a 30-minute walk), so it is peaceful and serene.
During the summer, its’ enjoyable to listen to the chirping of cicadas, the croaking of frogs, and the gentle rustling of the trees in the wind. The town’s hot springs may also be reached by a free shuttle bus that runs every 30 minutes at specific times of the day.
Yamamizuki is both a day-use and overnight spa. The hotel’s guests get access to the pools beyond the regular public hours.
Mineral Hot Springs

The outdoor hot springs have separate pools for men and women. Some pools are in a garden setting along the river, and there are trails that wind through the landscaping and past several waterfalls to get there. Guests who feel uncomfortable swimming without suits in public may reserve the hotel’s private hot pool by the hour.
There are no showers in the area of the river baths, but visitors can use one of the provided buckets to rinse off before getting in the spring water.
Two steaming pools, with views of the forest through the open sides, can be found in a covered bathhouse just below the river bath. There are showers available; if you need a thorough scrub, feel free to use the offered soap and shampoo.

Women’s Soaking Areas
After walking through the wooded trail beside the river, there is an open-air bath just for ladies. Despite its proximity to the bubbling mountain stream, visitors can take their time and enjoy the scenery at their own pace. There is also an indoor bath where women can take some time off to re-energize with a forest view from the window.
Men’s Soaking Areas
The men’s open-air bath is something that many consider one of Yamamizuki’s emblems. The sounds of the river and the swinging of the trees help you feel at one with nature as you soak in the tub. They also have a cypress spa and a cut stone bath for males to use indoors. The quiet and bright interior matches the beauty of nature outside the window, and the indoor pool is connected to the outdoor one.
Lodging

All guest flats, whether one or five bedrooms, can accommodate ten people or more, making them ideal for large families or groups of friends. The rooms are surrounded by beautiful scenery that can be enjoyed in all four seasons.
To completely unwind, spend a day or two here soaking in the hot springs and relaxing in the tranquil surroundings.
