Loon Creek Hot Springs is a rural location to the west of Challis. There is no way to drive there directly; visitors must fly or hike long distances to reach them.
You’ll find the hot springs about a mile up Loon Creek from the convergence. The natural baths fill a big tub next to the stream, and many visitors like to bathe in the thermal water before cooling down in the creek.
Multiple hot springs sources provide various bathing options at the hot springs complex. Seven or eight people can swim comfortably in the main pool that’s just a few inches deep. The smaller collections are formed with large rocks along the river in this incredibly peaceful area. There are sand, gravel, and rocks at the bottom of the pools.
The hot springs are roughly seven miles away from the Upper Loon Creek Airport.
