Hot Springs in Arkansas

The state of Arkansas has one hot springs destination, appropriately named, Hot Springs, Arkansas. This town is built up around the national park of the same name, so you can hardly distinguish between the two. It’s a national park within the city and surrounding forested hillsides.

Hot Springs is a city in Arkansas that gets its name due to the numerous hot springs flowing in the area. Indeed, it is the perfect getaway for single travelers, couples, and families over the weekend, offering something to everyone. But you’ll enjoy your trip to the fullest only when you’re armed with the right information.

Bathhouses at Hot Springs Natural Park

Hot Springs National Park is the oldest park in the country, featuring 47 springs and hiking trails spread over more than 30 miles. Once you’re done bathing, you can while away time watching exotic birds at the designated bird watching area. Pets are also allowed in the region.

Bathhouse Row is jotted with a number of historic buildings, but most of them aren’t used for baths anymore, and mainly serve as information points or visitor centers. Buckstaff and Quapaw are the only operational bathhouses, which have their doors open around the year. The rates for accessing the thermal pools are relatively lower when compared to other US cities.

Heated and mineral-rich springs are spread throughout the city of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Not only do the flowing waters offer numerous health benefits, but can also be drunk without filtration. Spigots have been set up all around the city, dispensing quality drinking water. Even on a cold day, the water from these spigots is still warm.

Accommodations

If you’re planning to stay overnight, the thermal spas are often a good choice, attracting tourists from across the world. Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa (affiliate) is a historical building that you’ll love. Park Hotel (affiliate), showcasing the Spanish Revival architecture, is another good choice.

Panther Valley Ranch, North Woods Bed and Breakfast, and the Lake House (affiliate) are other accommodation options. You can also pitch up tents at the various campgrounds in the city like Gulpha Gorge.

Other Attractions

The Magic Springs Theme & Water Park is a popular attraction if you visit Hot Springs, Arkansas in the summer seasons. Should you plan your visit during the cooler months, check out the Maxwell Blade Theater of Magic, Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf, and Mid America Science Museum, all of which are located on Central Avenue.

The Gangster Museum of America is another attraction displaying original artifacts. Tiny Town is a must-visit place for kids in the family. Also, go to the Hot Springs Mountain Tower, and enjoy the breathtaking view of the city and the park from the top.
