Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre History
The township of Moree (“The Long Water Hole”) was discovered and occupied by the Kamilaroi people, who gave it its name due to the discovery of hot mineral water in 1895. As the people searched for a source of irrigation, a bore was sunk into the ground, which reached the Great Artesian Basin, bringing forth geothermal waters.
Today, the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre (MAAC) utilizes the mineral-rich hot springs to create its health and wellness center suitable for the whole family. And thanks to the recent grand-scale expansion, the center extends beyond Artesian hot mineral baths to create a grandeur experience.
Artesian Hot Spring Baths
The Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre is home to two luxurious outdoor baths filled with hot springs water that remain a toasty 41°C (105°F). Submerging yourself in these mineral-rich waters is sure to soothe and rejuvenate. Aside from complete tranquility, the Artesian waters are said to also have health and wellness benefits.
Some of the potential advantages include improved blood circulation, diminished joint, back, and neck pain, rejuvenated and hydrated skin, and a full-body detox that can lead to improved overall health.
While most visitors will get lost in the wonders of the Artesian hot spring baths, other top-notch amenities are provided by the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre.
- Program Pool – This cozy 30°C (86°F) pool is where the aqua aerobic classes occur (swimming lessons soon to come – stay tuned).
- Kid’s Splash Park – Keep the kids occupied while you relax. The kid’s splash park comes with a zero-depth splash pad and a 40-centimeter deep pool complete with a miniature waterslide and tipping buckets. Children will have endless hours of independent play with so much to do.

This aquatic center is open year-round. Day passes are available, but the center also offers membership plans for full access to the Health Club and Aquatic Facilities.
