Poseidon Gardens Thermal Park (Parco Termale Giardini Poseidon) is a mineral water park on the Italian island of Ischia. It benefits from the island’s natural hot springs by providing visitors with 22 pools of different temperatures.
Poseidon’s idyllic setting in the bay of Citara makes it the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate in the hot waters. Many loungers, umbrellas, and seats are available, and the park spans a large area with many pools conveniently located near one another. Guests can loll in one of the pools or read a book while sipping a cold beverage.
The facility is only open from April 15 to October 31. Admission is charged per person based on how long they want to spend in the water. Partial-day and full-day tickets are offered based on seasonal rates, age, and if they’re being purchased independently or as part of a package.
Hot Springs Water
Trace elements of minerals have been discovered in the volcanically-caused saline, bromine-iodine, saline alkaline-sulfate, thermal, and hyperthermal springs. Many different bathing options are possible because of the pools’ rich and varied salt content and temperatures that range from 28° C/82° F to 40° C/104° F.
For bathing and healing, the pools, and natural saunas, all use water that comes straight from thermal-mineral springs. Routine quality control testing ensures their chemical, physical, and bacterial purity. The pools are drained and cleaned half an hour before closing each day.
Hot springs experience options include:
- Three ocean-water pools are available for swimming for people of all ages.
- Several adult-only thermal baths are fed by healing waters with varying temperatures.
- Four Kneipp pools with baths that hover around 40°C/ 104 °F to 15° C/60 ° F). Named after Sebastian Kneipp, the intention of these pools is for people to get in the freezing pool for 15 seconds before jumping into the hot pool next to it.
- The natural sauna (steam room inside a cave carved into the tuff).
- The Japanese bath with a path alternating hot/cold. This one-of-a-kind experience involves guests walking through hot and cold channels with pebbles at the bottom that massage their feet.
