Afyon Gazligol Basaranlar Thermal Hotel, Turkey

Afyon Gazligol Basaranlar Thermal Hotel – Turkey

July 11, 2022 By //  by Kristin Park

The Afyon Gazligol Basaranlar Thermal Hotel is packed full of activities to keep the entire family busy for at least a week. Spa treatments, pools, sports, and animals are just a few on the long list. Centered between Izmir, Antalya, and Ankara makes it a hot spot for Turks and foreigners alike.

Afyon, Turkey has been the center of geothermal activity in the country for centuries. The water used in the Afyon Gazligol Basaranlar Thermal Hotel, just over 12 miles away, is the same that has been around since the Phrygians. That’s to say, this hot spring has been flowing since around 1200 B.C.

Pools

With a range of pools to suit everyone’s needs, your entire family can enjoy time at the Afyon Gazligol Basaranlar Thermal Hotel. All fed by hot springs that contain minerals such as sulfur, magnesium, and calcium, among other things, the hotel is a perfect place to unwind while soaking your worries away.

Inside, there is a large 65.5 ft long by 4.5 ft deep pool great for doing laps and water aerobics. Hovering at 86°F, time is scheduled separately for men and women with periods of open swims, classes, and lessons. Loungers are available for anyone not actively in the water. Meanwhile, there’s a separate pool with a two-story waterslide great for kids to hang out with their friends.

For those looking for something a bit more relaxing, the Therapy Spa Pool is in a cave-like setting, perfect for sitting back and loosening up your muscle. Sitting between 104° and 108° F, the pool has jets that aim at your neck and back as well as a ramp for accessibility.

Spa

After spending some time in the water, heading to the spa is a great way to have some self-care. Start in the mosaic-tiled steam room, which has 100% moisture and sits around 113-122°F. Ideal for after a workout, particularly when you have a buildup of lactic acid, the humidity will help relieve your soreness.

For those hoping to have a moment alone, enjoying some time in the Ozone may be a perfect option. Not your run-of-the-mill sauna, this single-person device resembles a tanning bed and steams your body from the neck down. Perfect for starting a day at the spa, book a massage for afterward, which comes in a range of styles like anti-stress, aromatherapy, and Indian head.

Other services a the spa include:

  • Clay, moss, coffee, and grapeseed facials
  • Thermal mud treatments
  • Paraffin treatments
  • Turkish Bath
  • Body scrubs
  • Ear detox
  • Foot detox
