Thermal Hot Springs Pools
There are a whopping 25 hot springs pools to soak in Baldi. Each will heal your body and soothe your mind. The all-natural mineral water is a delight for the senses. This family friend tourist retreat features 5 water slides, 3 swim-up bars, saunas, and Jacuzzis.
At the Baldi Hot Springs Resort Hotel & Spa, there are 25 dipping pools throughout the property. The resort guarantees that their spring water is the “purest in the world” and for guest satisfaction, the pools are microbiologically studied and cleaned each day.
The resort’s hot pools are fed by the Tabacón River, which flows close to the property. Spring water is pumped into the pools and meticulously maintained.
Of the 25 pools, 15 are filled with hot mineral water and temperatures range from warm to very, very hot. Aside from the cold pools, the coolest hot spring is 93°F (33.8°C) and the hottest is a whopping 152°F (66.6°C).
All pools at the resort are labeled by temperature. Signs at the entrance to the pool will tell guests the temperatures, so it’s important to look for the sign before you take a dip.
Guests are required to wear clothing or swimsuits at the resort because it is a family-friendly property. All pools are open to all ages. However, it is recommended that only adults enter the hottest pools.

The upscale hotel was added in 2010 to better serve the Baldi fans. It showcases 32 upscale rooms throughout its 4-story building. Amazingly all the rooms provide at least a partial view of the imposing Arenal Volcano. There are five room types:

Tucked away from the main hot springs and cold pools, the hotel features lush tropical gardens, modern facilities, and premiere service. Dining
In addition to the in-pool bars, there are 2 dry bars and 2 restaurants for fine dining and drinking. A private parking lot is available with a full-time security guard.
On-site near the hotel, the two restaurants are called the Virgita Restaurant and the Pyramid Restaurant. Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Pyramid Restaurant or check in for lunch and dinner at the Pyramid Restaurant.
Getting There
The Baldi Hot Springs Resort Hotel & Spa is located in the small Costa Rican town called La Fortuna. A popular tourist spot that is filled with plenty of hot spring resorts, the Baldi is the largest property in the area.
La Fortuna, the town, sits at the base of the Arenal Volcano near the Arenal Volcano National Park. The town itself is rather small, but plenty of tourists crowd the area because of the hot springs. La Fortuna is located 98 miles (158.9km) northwest of San José, Costa Rica’s capital city.
To get to the Baldi Hot Springs Resort Hotel & Spa from the Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José:
- Head north on the Inter-American Highway to the town of San Ramon.
- At San Ramon, exit and drive through the town.
- Continue on the road past the towns of Los Angeles, Balsa, Bajo Los Rodríguez, Santa Clara, Javillos, and El Tanque.
- You will arrive in La Fortuna.
- Once in La Fortuna, stay on the main street (Road 142) as it curves around the base of the Arenal Volcano.
- The resort is located on the main road and can be spotted with its large roofed entrance.
