Built in 1789, Bath, England’s Cross Bath is a public open-air bathing pool with a rich history. This separate facility, next to the more well-known main Royal Bath, showcases a single soaking pool with access for up to 10 people. You must reserve your session and the whole place can be rented to a single group at a time.
The Cross Bath is located in a separate building from the New Royal Bath, which is the Main Spa at Thermae Bath Spa. It’s in the shape of a circle and has a natural thermal spring and a custom-built fountain next to it. There is some formal recognition of the Cross Spring as being a sacred place, which adds to its relaxing atmosphere.
Using the Waters
Soaking sessions are limited to ten people at a time, and reservations up to 48 hours in advance are highly recommended. Each soaking session is 1.5 hours long and can be done on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays from 10 am to 11:30 am, or Thursdays from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Included in the admission price are a robe, slippers, and a towel.
This bath also offers a one-of-a-kind exclusive experience that may be reserved for intimate gatherings of up to 10 guests. It’s a high-end package that includes a 1.5-hour session in the private pool, a robe and slippers, Champagne (or juice), and tasty gourmet delicacies.
These hot pool bookings have set prices and can only be booked at 12, 2 and 4 pm every day of the week.
Children under the age of 12 are not permitted in the swimming area. Proof of age is required for children 12-15 years of age, and only the drinks included in the reservation are allowed inside. The other rules for this pool are the same ones as those that apply to the neighboring Royal Bath.
