Mothership Yoga Lounge and Hot Springs, New Mexico

Mothership Yoga Lounge & Hot Springs – T or C, New Mexico

July 18, 2022 By //  by Michelle Keldgord

Located in the eccentric and cool downtown Truth or Consequences, Mothership Yoga Lounge & Hot Springs is the ultimate getaway for individuals, small parties, and full-fledged group retreats. It combines historical buildings and architecture with relaxing elements, creating the ideal experience for those looking to unwind and connect with their inner being.

The Mothership was created by Glenn and Shayna Turner in 2005 when they purchased the “Church of Christ” building set in an adobe church over 100 years old. In 2018, they acquired the historic bathhouse next door, allowing them to expand their services.

They are also the proud owners of “Breathe 11:11,” a free app that chimes every morning at 11:11 as a reminder to sit back, take a deep breath, and make a wish.

Truth or Consequences (T or C) is well-known for its artistic and off-the-beaten-path personality, but it was initially named “Hot Springs,” New Mexico. That’s because of the piping hot water that flows from a rift along the Rio Grande. This delightful mineral water is loaded with 38 minerals and a pH balance of 7 (neutral) that reaches inviting temperatures up to 115°F.

And it’s the same thermal waters that bless the hot spring baths at The Mothership resort.

When you visit the Mothership Yoga Lounge & Hot Springs, you have two options for soaking.

For one, you’re welcome to the historic bathhouse, complete with a Southern-style architectural charm and an elegant, eye-catching, and superbly relaxing crystal waterfall tub.

The other option is to stay in one of five tranquil properties, each with its own private mineral bath for unlimited soaking.

Yoga

Hot spring baths aren’t the only peaceful experiences that await you at the Mothership. There is also a rejuvenating yoga studio inside the renovated 1930s adobe church. The classes range from prana flow yoga, which emphasizes deep breathing exercises, to hatha yoga, a style meant to invigorate and energize mind, body, and soul.

Whether you’re considering taking your very first yoga class or attending a yoga retreat, you will find this charming studio offers a welcoming environment and a pleasant all-around experience. It’s no wonder why it’s been named one of the top ten yoga studios in New Mexico.

The Mothership Yoga Lounge & Hot Springs offers five properties to stay in, all of which feature a modern and luxurious atmosphere. They come complete with full kitchens and unlimited soaks in the accompanying private hot springs bath.

With The Mothership ideally located in downtown Truth or Consequences, access to delicious fare, intriguing artwork, and plenty of shopping is right outside your door. Spend your mornings relaxing in the hot springs bath before checking out the unconventional downtown area.

Retreats

The Mothership has become a hot spot for retreats of all kinds, whether it’s a teacher’s conference, music festival, yoga retreat, or something in-between.

Attendees can utilize all areas of the property, including the yoga center and historical hot springs bath. The five properties may be reserved for large gatherings, but if you need more room, the business has plenty of nearby lodging recommendations.

While retreats of all kinds are welcome (and encouraged), one of the most popular yearly getaways is known as the “Women’s Retreat.” This spectacular four-day event draws women from across the globe, inviting them to enjoy the hot springs baths, engage in gentle yoga and meditation, delicious food, and the most important thing of all – fun.

These women’s retreats have been held for the past ten years and continue to be a marvelous success. Women have described the trip as soul-nourishing and transformative, a genuinely once-in-a-lifetime experience they’re honored to have enjoyed.
