The Sawtooth National Recreation Area in Idaho is home to Stanley’s stunning Mountain Village Resort, complete with natural hot springs. Spanning the Salmon River and overlooking the mountains, this resort is the epitome of relaxation and offers soaking, lodging, and dining.
Natural Hot Springs
A little distance from the lodge is a tiny wood structure housing a pool with natural thermal water and changing rooms. This is one of the resort’s main features, and the hot spring water is piped into a large, semi-indoor tub that fits about eight people. Temperatures in the pool range from around 98 to 104 °F year-round; bathing suits are required.
There are seats within the structure and a wide barn-style door. It can be pushed open to let in the crisp mountain air and provide breathtaking panoramas of the stream and the Sawtooth Mountains.
Visitors staying at the Mountain Village may soak in the hot spring at no extra cost. Soaks are only possible with reservations, so it’s essential to look into that upon or before checking in. Inquire at the front desk about public hours and other hot springs-related details. Due to the high demand for the hot spring, they cannot guarantee guests a private bath.
The Village
Located on the Salmon River and framed by the rugged Sawtooth Mountains, this leisure destination offers something unique to tourists in the region. The lodge, hot spring, bar, restaurant, store, and gas station are just a few of the conveniences provided to visitors.
Russell and Mandy Clark, who live in the area, own and run the property, which is accessible year-round and provides access to various activities. Spend some time whitewater rafting, fishing, bicycling, climbing, snowmobiling, or skiing after relaxing in the hot springs.
Lodging and Camping
Ten tent camping sites, six RV sites with full hookups, and 61 lodge rooms are available at Mountain Village Resort. Additionally, large families or parties will find the Stanley Outpost’s cabin and three-room suite ideal for overnight stays. Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided, and pets can stay in the accommodations for an extra nightly fee.
Cancellations must be made at least three days in advance during the winter and seven days in advance during the summer. Guests are responsible for the total cost of the reservation, even if they have to depart early.
