Located 19 kilometers/12 miles east of Ranau, Poring Hot Spring offers visitors a tranquil bathing spot in the Malaysian state of Sabah. This park has a number of Japanese-style bathhouses, perfect for a day of relaxation.
To enter the hot spring park, visitors must pay an entry fee. Weekends are the busiest, so if you’d want to avoid the crowds, visiting during the week is your best bet.
Mineral Hot Springs

People with skin allergies or irritations like psoriasis, eczema, or a dry scalp may find relief from these mineral-rich geothermal waters. Soaking in these hot springs can be just what the doctor ordered after a strenuous climb up Mount Kinabalu.
The primary thermal pools are fed by a large hot spring and laid out in an open-air, tiled design with filling faucets. These small, man-made pools are enclosed in concrete and topped with roofs. The water from the spring is hot enough to fill a bathtub, but it will take a long time to do so. One alternative is to fill with cold natural water and enjoy it as a refreshing pool.
For an hourly fee, people who want to be private or don’t want to be seen can use enclosed baths that look like small chalets. Families visiting with little children can get in the larger pool for a day of fun.
Amenities

Other amenities by the water include a small convenience store, a tropical garden, and a butterfly farm. The Kipungit Waterfall and the Poring Orchid Conservation Centre (home to 1,200 species of orchids) are within walking distance of the springs.
Visitors not interested in soaking can take a stroll along the beautiful Poring Canopy Walkway, which is 157.8m/518 feet long and 41m/135 high.
Getting There

The hot springs are accessible by car, and the route leading there is well-marked from Ranau. Inside the main entrance, there is plenty of free parking available. Although there is a public bus service, it only runs once daily and only leaves from Kinabalu Park.
You may also take a cab from Ranau for alternate transportation. There are only a few public buses traveling between Ranau and Poring.
Lodging

At the Poring Hot Spring & Nature Reserve, guests can stay at one of the Sutera Sanctuary Lodges. On top of that, the guest rooms at Ernah Lodge range from dormitory-style to fully furnished and ideal for families.
