Riverside Hot Springs Inn – Lava Hot Springs, ID

Located next to the Portneuf River in downtown Lava Hot Springs, Riverside Hot Springs Inn is a wonderful year-round retreat. The boutique hotel is open to adult guests, making it the only full-service adult resort in town.

It features a hotel, spa, and hot springs pools to enjoy. There’s also an on-site restaurant and lounge. The hotel is open to adults only.

Hot Springs Pools and Spa Treatments

There are 3 private indoor soaking pools and 1 outdoor hot tub. All are heated with geothermal hot mineral water. They have a continuous flow assuring a fresh, chemical-free soak. The mineral-rich water is reputed for its health benefits.

The outdoor pool is an old-fashioned soaking barrel. The water reaches the surface at 112 degrees Fahrenheit and is cooled down to 102 to 106 degrees Fahrenheit for comfortable soaking. All guests must reserve a hot springs pool in advance for a limit of 30 minutes per soak.

The area’s hot springs have been used as a safe, sacred healing ground for hundreds of years by the Native American people. It was used by pioneers on the Oregon Trail. It’s estimated the hot springs have been flowing there for 5 million years. There is no sulfur odor, so the smell is pleasant.

Spa Treatments

Combined a dip in the hot springs pool with an on-site massage. It’s the ultimate way to unwind. The soaking rooms are across the hall from the spa therapy rooms. Massage treatments need to be reserved in advance, 24 hours or more. They are available Wednesday through Sunday.

The on-site restaurant is the prominent Portneuf Grill & Lounge, which has been showcased in various publications. It’s open year-round with a daily dinner service, as well as late-night food on Friday and Saturday nights. You can dine by the river during the warmer summer months.

Enjoy flavors of the Northwest, including USDA-aged prime steak, fresh seafood, pasta, gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan fare. All ingredients are quality and fresh. Reservations are encouraged.

Also located in the Riverside Hot Springs Inn is the Cafe & A’more, open every morning. Situated in the lobby it has baked goods handmade by their pastry chef, tea, and coffee. On weekends they offer mimosas and espresso.

All overnight guests get complimentary full access to the hot springs, as well as on-site parking. There is also free wifi to take care of business and keep you entertained. There is a $7 breakfast voucher that can be used at Cafe & A’more for items such as baked goods and coffee.

There are 18 boutique guest rooms, each individually decorated. All rooms have air conditioning and public water heated with geothermal hot water. The adult only hotel is limited to children 16 and older (with their parents). There is a complimentary Continental breakfast served daily for all guests.
